My moby is a multi-language app for smartphone that allows to plan the travels using the different transport modes (buses, train, ferry) in Yangon. Each transport system can be looked up to spot which transport mode can be used according to the geographical position of the users. Each public transport line is detailed both on a timetable and on the map, where all the stops are visualised as well as the departure and arrival time of each line.
The user can consult the app and discover which lines take and at which hour, how much is the waiting time before starting the trip and, finally, calculate the route to get to destination from the chosen origin.
Furthermore, My moby anonymously collects mobility data tracking people and vehicle trips (origin, destination, transport mode, route) and allow members of the community to assess the overall adequacy of the transport systems and to make informed decision about their own mobility behaviour. In detail, the users can visualise their mobility patterns as well as statistics about: how much time they spent travelling with the different transport modes, the origins and destinations of their travels, where they spend more time (home, office, etc.), etc. The personal information is available to each user.
By adopting a social-media approach in collecting, publishing, commenting, and sharing mobility related information. The users can evaluate several characteristics of public transport as crowding, cleanness, punctuality, vehicle conditions, etc., improving the global awareness of mobility issues.
The mobile application allows citizens to contribute and inspect community data. By using the provided services and app, citizens will be able to:
- contribute their own mobility data;
- explicitly choose to be part of one or more local communities and sharing ideas, complaints and information related to mobility issues in such communities;
- receive suggestions about mobility in the surrounding area;
- visualize their own mobility footprint in terms of space and time.
